The problem

AI shopping agents do not browse your storefront the way a person does. They read identifiers, structured attributes, standardized categories, price and inventory freshness, and clear product text. A catalog can look excellent in the Shopify admin and still be unreadable to an AI shopping feed. Readiness is measurable — and most stores score lower than they expect.

Diagnostic checklist

• Identifiers: are GTIN/barcode, SKU, brand, and MPN present and consistent?
• Attributes: do metafields carry the category-critical traits feeds expect?
• Taxonomy: is the product category standardized and consistent across families?
• Freshness: do price and inventory updates reach feed consumers on time?
• Readability: can a parser extract size, material, and compatibility from your copy?
